you'll always be remembered.

Last Wednesday, my family got the news of my great-grandmother's passing. We had been expecting it for a couple weeks now, but it was still a shock when the news came. When word like that hits you or your first read it, it just seems like the world around you stops and all you can think about is that one person. Isn't life funny that way. Everything is a blur and in slow motion and it doesn't even seem like real life.

My great grandmother was a fire-cracker. She had a mind of her own and was a pistol when it came to having things done her way. She was the queen of organization and she knew how to run a household. She was one of the founders of a Bible College and one of the charter members of the Echo Meadows Church of Christ in Oregon, Ohio where my family still attends church today. She was a leader and pillar in the church and in our family. I will never forget her quirks, but also her loving mannerisms and sweet hugs and o that wonderful yummy cheesecake. She loved her family with all that she had and loved the Lord even more. This woman was a fighter all her life and went down fighting until the very end when she was ready to move on to a greater and better life.

My Poppa and her were married for 72 years and he thought she was beautiful for every single one of those. He adored her from age 19 to 92 and I know he cannot wait until he sees her again. I will never forget what he said to her as he held her hand in her last moments of life, "I will meet you at the Eastern Gate."

Grandma's are very special people,
unique in their own special way;
Some are remembered for the deeds they do,
others for kind words they say.

A grandma's heart is so full of love,
always looking on their family with glee;
A grandma's will always expect the best,
from the ones she calls family.

A grandma is so caring,
always there with her out streached hand;
No matter what problem you may face in life,
a grandmother will always understand.

A grandma is a special gift,
that is given with love from God;
To enrich the beauty of our lives,
as down lifes path we trod.

When our life finally comes to an end,
and we pass to the other side;
Our grandma's are the ones who greet us,
and leed us safely inside.
